The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society is now accepting applications for its 2011 scholarship. Grantees receive $4,000 toward higher education costs and become members of HIAS Young Leaders, which aids HIAS’ mission of advocating for fair and just immigration laws.

The program includes community service and leadership components. Awardees participate in community-building projects serving local immigrant communities. Participants also develop leadership skills through training and educational programming addressing Jewish perspectives on contemporary immigration issues.

HIAS scholarships are intended for high school seniors and students of all ages already enrolled in college.

Applications are available online only at www.hias.org/scholarship. Deadline is March 15.
