Chabad of the East Bay has signed a three-year lease on new headquarters near downtown Berkeley, located at 2730 Telegraph Ave. The first Shabbat services were held there on March 11.

“It’s perfect,” said Rabbi Yehuda Ferris. “It has zoning for public assembly, it’s close to all major local Jewish communities, it has classrooms for preschool. In every way it’s a better facility.”

For 21 years, Chabad of the East Bay was located near the U.C. Berkley campus on College Avenue.
