Yigal Amir, who is serving a life sentence in solitary confinement for the murder of former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, plans to request permission from Israel’s Prison Service to celebrate the Passover seder with his fellow prisoners and the prison rabbi.
A draft of the request letter was published on Amir’s Facebook page, but was later removed.
“Amir has been in prison for over 15 years, and in all those years he hasn’t been allowed to celebrate the Seder with others,” Amir’s attorney, Ariel Atari, wrote in the letter. “The time has come to put an end to this.”
Atari proposes in the letter that Amir should avoid talking to the other prisoners during the evening, and instead limit himself to reading the haggadah. — ynetnews.com
