Rabbi Serena Eisenberg has been appointed executive director of Hillel at Stanford. She previously served in a similar capacity at her alma mater, Brown University in Providence, R.I., from 2005 to 2007.
After earning a masters in social work at U.C. Berkeley in 1993, Eisenberg worked as a Jewish educator at several Bay Area synagogues, and later served as interim director of the Israel and Overseas Committee with the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation. She was also founding director of the Community Jewish Youth Found-ation of the East Bay.
Eisenberg was ordained by the Recon-structionist Rabbinical College in 2002, where she was a Wexner Fellow.
Since 2007, she has lived with her family in Israel while serving as a Mandel Jerusalem Fellow at the Mandel Leadership Institute and as a consultant in Jewish education. She joins Stanford Hillel in August.
