Nigunim Chorus will hold a musical weekend retreat, set to take place Aug. 26 to 28 at River’s Bend Retreat Center near the town of Philo in Mendocino County’s Anderson Valley.
The group, founded by Bay Area musician Achi Ben Shalom, is now 50-members strong and is dedicated to promoting and preserving Jewish culture by performing Jewish music arranged for choral singing.
The retreat will include drumming lessons by Jan Padover, dance and choreography classes led by Yiddish dance teacher Bruice Bierman and music therapy lessons by Lior Tsarfi. Ben Shalom will teach intuitive harmonizing and Jewish folk songs repertoire.
In addition to music, the retreat will include six prepared meals, group yoga, swimming and hiking through nearby trails.
