Workshops will precede the service and begin at 4 p.m. Dr. Michael Thaler will lead the adult session on the Nuremberg trials. A session for teens will feature survivors who were teens during the Holocaust. A buffet dinner for workshop participants will include menus items adapted from “In Memory’s Kitchen,” a book of recipes collected from women in concentration camps.

Bible mysteries set in synagogue series

“Mysteries of the Bible,” a video series, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1 and continue May 8 and 15 at Peninsula Temple Sholom, 1655 Sebastian Drive, Burlingame.

The first night will feature “Abraham: One Man, One God,” the second, “Prophets: Soul Catchers” and the third, “The Philistines: Arch Enemy.” Rabbi Gerald Raiskin will be the teacher. For information, call (415) 697-2266.

Watercolor art class will begin on May 6

Used books to aid Brandeis U.

Brandeis University National Women’s Committee will hold a used book sale May 1 to 10 at Westgate Mall, 1600 Saratoga Ave., San Jose.

Used books, games, puzzles, tapes, records and videos will be available during mall hours. Proceeds will support Brandeis University libraries.

PJCC plans two getaways

The Peninsula Jewish Community Center plans a theater trip to see “Shear Madness” at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 4 at Mason Street Theatre, 340 Mason, S.F.

Departure times are 1:10 p.m. from PJCC 2440 Carlmont Drive, Belmont; 1:30 p.m. from the Peninsula Regent, El Camino and Baldwin, San Mateo; and 1:40 p.m. from Woodlake apartment building No. 800, North Delaware and Peninsula, San Mateo.
