JCC of S.F. starts several new fall classes for all ages

Potters Wheel for Teens ages 12 to 17 meets at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Dec. 18 at a cost of $150 for members, $170 for nonmembers.

Modern dance classes for ages 7 through teens convene at 3:45 p.m. Tuesdays through Dec. 17. Cost is $140 for members, $160 for nonmembers.

Basic classes in tae kwon do, an ancient Korean art of self-defense for children ages 5 and up, meet at 4:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through Dec. 20. Advanced classes meet at 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Cost is $190 for members, $225 for nonmembers.

Creative Ceramics for adults meets 7 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 18 through Oct. 30, and repeats Nov. 6 through Dec. 18. In addition, Ceramics in the Morning convenes at 10 a.m. Thursdays, Sept. 19 through Oct. 31, and again Nov. 7 to Dec. 19. Cost for each class is $115 for members, $125 for nonmembers, and includes materials and studio time.

Cafe Lahat, the ongoing Tuesday class in Israeli folk dancing, starts at 7:30 p.m. Cost each week is $4.50 for members, $5 for nonmembers. Cafe Shalom, featuring monthly dance parties, begins meeting at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 for $5.

A free humor presentation by Bev Bender for Montefiore Senior Center participants starts at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8 in the JCC lounge. At the same time a discussion on fighting prejudice and ethnic violence meets in Room 102.
