Hate radio debated

The Anti-Defamation League will present “Talk Radio in the ’90s” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Golden Gate University’s Auditorium C, 536 Mission St., S.F.

Town meeting on CCRI set for Oct. 2

A town meeting on the California Civil Rights Initiative: Proposition 209 will take place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Congregation Emanu-El, 2 Lake St., S.F.

Three speakers supporting the initiative and three opponents will debate the merits of the initiative, which would eliminate affirmative action programs in the public arena based on race, gender or ethnicity.

They include Mark Schickman, president of the San Francisco Bar Association; Rabbi Alan Lew, president of the Northern California Board of Rabbis; Leslie Katz, San Francisco supervisor; Lawrence Siskind, attorney and former Justice Department appointee in the Reagan and Bush Administrations; and Lee Cheng, co-founder of the Asian American Legal Foundation.

Women’s domestic violence event to take place in JCC of S.F. sukkah

Shalom Bayit, the Bay Area Jewish Women’s Domestic Violence Task Force, will present a program at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 in the sukkah at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, 3200 California St.
