Linda Deaktor, U.S. Postal Service manager of rates and classification for the 14 Western states, will present enlargements of both the U.S. and Israeli versions of the stamp to Alan Rothenberg, president of the JCF. KRON-TV reporter Henry Tenenbaum will serve as emcee.
Also present will be students from Brandeis Hillel Day School. Stamp Collector Ephraim Margolin will display Jewish-themed postage stamps from countries around the world.
The stamp bears the image of a contemporary menorah. It was designed by Hannah Smotrich, a board member of the Washington chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts and instructor at the Corcoran School of Art in the District of Columbia.
Participants may purchase the 32-cent stamp at a nearby post office on wheels. Those buying 20 or more Chanukah stamps will receive a free solid brass full color matching lapel pin.
