Her mother, Raisie Rifkin, was the recipient of the Woman of Valor Award. Her grandfather Adolph Kiesler was honored both by Eleanor Roosevelt and Harry Truman with Man of the Century Awards. Wendy Dorband is a member of the executive board of the Jewish Federation of Greater East Bay, chair of the Contra Costa Council and member of the board of directors of its Women's Division. Bill Dorband is the co-founder and inaugural chairman of the local Boy Scout Council's Jewish Committee on Scouting. His dedication has been recognized with the Shofar Award from the National Jewish Committee on Scouting.
