Lehrhaus to offer Judaism course for lay leaders
Lay leaders who want to raise their level of Jewish knowledge may take part in a Lehrhaus Judaica program titled Lessons for Leaders.
Beginning later this month and in early February, six groups will begin meeting monthly in private homes throughout the Bay Area: three in the East Bay, the others in San Francisco, Marin and the north Peninsula.
Teachers will include rabbis Lavey Derby, Alan Lew, Amy Eilberg and Rona Shapiro; professor Laurie Zoloth-Dorfman and Lehrhaus executive director Fred Rosenbaum. Guest speaker will be Rabbi David Ellenson, who is professor of Jewish thought at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and UCLA.
Co-sponsors with Lehrhaus include the Jewish Federation of the Greater East Bay and the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation with additional support from the Koret Foundation.
For times and locations of gatherings, call Rosenbaum at (510) 845-6420, ext. 44, in the East Bay; Maxine Epstein at (415) 499-1223 in Marin; Amy Rosenblatt-Lui at (415) 512-6239 in San Francisco; and Katherine Tick at (415) 349-1523 in the north Peninsula.
