Rabbi Stephen Pearce will address services at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19 at the Third Baptist Church, 1399 McAllister St. The synagogue’s choir, Kol Emanu-El, will perform.
The public is invited to both events.
During the weekend, the Rita Zweig Memorial Award will be presented to the student who has shown the most progress in the past year in Back on Track, a tutoring program run jointly by the two congregations.

A support group for individuals who are newly single meets at 6 p.m. Mondays at Jewish Family and Children’s Services, 1600 Scott St., S.F.

`Color of Water’ author James McBride will speak in Bay Area
James McBride, author of “The Color of Water: A Black Man’s Tribute to His White Mother,” will read from his book at several Bay Area locations.
