In first person…Son wants to know where new dad lives Facebook Twitter Email SMS WhatsApp Share By J. The Singles Circuit of a single mom consists of runs to the market and the hardware store. Of course, there are trips to the beach, the park and other places full of wonder. But what I really wonder is, who has time for the Singles Circuit? Single parents sure don't. It's hard to fit in an art opening or a wine-tasting party. My life as a single mom is filled with sweet moments, and some bittersweet moments as well. My son wants a new dad. His father lives on another continent, too great a distance from which to parent. I told my son I would try to find him a new dad. He asked me what his new dad's name was. I told him I didn't know yet. We were driving in the car and he wanted to go to his new dad's house. When I told him I didn't know where his new dad lives yet, he found this confusing, to say the least. Waiting for fate to step in is not an easy concept for a 3-year-old to understand. When my child needs something, I try very hard to provide it. But finding a wonderful dad is not easy. I always tell my friends it will take divine intervention, and they respond by encouraging me to get out more. Of course, they also try to think of wonderful single men they know, but thus far the harvest has been bare. Where does a very lovely, capable, intelligent, warm, funny single mom go to meet Mister Wonderful? Perhaps the Safeway? But alas, I don't live in the Marina. Maybe at the park or the beach. It could happen. I don't know his name yet, but I do know he will value generosity, courage and truth. We will be very happy when we finally find each other. That I am sure of. We will share Passover and Chanukah. We will drink red wine on Shabbat and have friends and family at our table. We will go camping in the summer and on many great adventures. Our home will glow with warmth and love. How and when we will find each other, I do not know. He could be anywhere, and a little publicity in the Jewish Bulletin couldn't hurt. J.
