A talk with a photographer

Russian Jewish photojournalist Yevgeny Khaldei, whose work will appear at the Jewish Museum San Francisco, will hold a conversation with S.F. gallery owner Robert Koch at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25 at the Jewish Community Federation Board Room, 121 Steuart St., S.F.

Khaldei, who worked for both the Russian news agency Tass during World War II and the newspaper Pravda, will talk about his life and work as a photographer in the former Soviet Union. His show, “Russia in Black and White: The Photojournalism of Yevgeny Khaldei,” will open Feb. 24, also at 121 Steuart St.

AJCommittee honors exec

Paul Hazen, chairman and chief executive officer of Wells Fargo and Company, will receive the American Jewish Committee’s 1997 National Human Relations Award, according to Richard L. Jaeger, president of the AJCommittee’s San Francisco Bay Area chapter.

The tribute to Hazen will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18 at the Fairmont Hotel’s Gold Room, Mason and California streets, S.F. He will be honored as a distinguished corporate and community leader. Stanley T. Skinner, chairman and chief executive officer of PG&E, is dinner chairman. Rollin Post, KRON-TV political analyst, will be guest speaker.

Hazen serves as a trustee of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and as governor of the San Francisco Symphony. He is the president of the Intermountain Center for Human Development. For dinner information, call (415) 777-3820.

Survivor to speak

Holocaust survivor Gerda Weissman Klein, will speak at the fifth annual Power of One fund-raising dinner sponsored by the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation Women’s Alliance, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25 at the Westin St. Francis, Powell and Geary streets, S.F.
