Magnes plans Yom HaShoah reception

A Yom HaShoah book-signing by the authors of two new works — one on the Holocaust, the other on the Soviet gulag — will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, May 4 at the Judah L. Magnes Museum, 2911 Russell St., Berkeley.

June Brott, Magnes docent, and Sheleimeh Zabuski, who are first cousins, co-authored "Needle and Thread: A Tale of Survival from Bialystok to Paris." It tells the story of their family members who were murdered during the Russian occupation of Poland and the German invasion.

The other book, Meyer Galler's "Plowing the Steppes and Other Gulag Stories," was recently published by the Magnes.
