In Fargo, N.D., some 125 Jewish families are in need of assistance. The smaller Jewish community in Grand Rapids, Minn., is still assessing damage to its homes and to its flooded synagogue.

Contributions for the emergency mailbox will be forwarded in total to Jewish communities in need through the Council of Jewish Federation's Disaster Relief Committee.

Who says there's no free lunch? Try Montefiore Senior Center

Through May 31, lunch, for all adults over age 55 is free at Montefiore Senior Center.

The hot kosher lunch at noon will be included with one free class at the center, located at 3200 California St., S.F.
