An eight-week Advanced Modern Hebrew class will commence at 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 16 for $70. Beginning Biblical-Prayerbook Hebrew will begin at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 22 and continues for eight sessions. Tuition is $55-$70. Intensive Modern Hebrew Ulpan will meet Mondays and Wednesdays beginning at 7 p.m. June 16 and Wednesday June 18. Tuition for each 16-session class is $105 for students, $160 for ages 65+ and $210 for others. "Israeli Culture and the Hebrew Media I" will meet at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18 for eight sessions. Tuition is $70. "Judaism as Sacred Theater," a class that will examine the customs of Jewish holidays, will meet for six sessions beginning at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 16. Tuition is $50. "Di Grine Kuzine (The Greenhorns), Hester Street and Beyond," a course about New York's Lower East Side during the era of immigration, will take place in six sessions beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24. Tuition is $50. "Tour Through Time: A Journey Through Biblical Israel" will convene at 6:45 p.m. Sunday June 22 and continue for eight sessions at $35-$70. Four classes will take place at Berkeley Richmond Jewish Community Center, 1414 Walnut St., Berkeley. They include "Make Your Own Mezuzah and Challah/Matzah Cover," which will meet in two sessions beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19. Cost is $15-$30. "Taking Root: Making Your Own Family Tree" will run for three weeks, beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 10 for $15-$30. "Beyond the Torah — King David: Up Close and Personal," a four-week class, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19. Cost is $35-$40. "Telling the Story — Jewish Autobiography" will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 18 and continue for eight sessions. Tuition is $55-$70. Meeting at Congregation Netivot Shalom, 1841 Berkeley Way, Berkeley, will be "The Bayit and the Beit Midrash: A House and a House of Learning" at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 15. It will continue for four sessions at a cost of $30-$40. "Against the Grain: Modern Fundamentalism in Judaism and Islam," will meet for four weeks beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1 at Contra Costa Jewish Community Center, 2071 Tice Valley Road, Walnut Creek.
