Religious outspend secular in charity

*77 percent of the adult Jewish population in Israel gave to charity last year.

*Among the ultra-religious community, individuals pledge about $294 annually, compared to about $39 pledged by secular Jews.

*Most of the ultra-religious community donated to organizations serving only the religious community.

*One out of every five Israelis is involved in some sort of volunteer activity.

The survey was based on a sample of 500 Israeli Jews.
