San Francisco Shorts Jewish War Veterans plan Sept. 9 meeting at Congregation Emanu-El

Kids' sports classes will start at JCC of S.F.

The Youth Sports Program of the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco will begin Tuesday, Sept. 9 with basketball, soccer, baseball classes and sports clubs at 3200 California St.

Classes for boys and girls ages 3 to 13 will run 11 to 15 weeks. Tuition varies from $100 to $180 with discounts for JCC of S.F. members.

Beginning Soccer I is for ages 4-6, Beginning Soccer II is for kindergartners and Beginning Soccer III is for first-graders. Continuing soccer classes will begin later in the year. Kids will have a chance to play on teams within the Viking Soccer League.

Boys' basketball team tryouts will be held Nov. 9 and the competitive season will begin in January. Girls' tryouts will be in January with the competitive season getting underway in March. Fall classes will include Introduction to Basketball for third-graders, Basketball I for grades four and five, and Basketball II for grades six to eight.

Beginning Baseball I is for ages 4-6, Beginning Baseball II is for kindergartners and first-graders, and Continuing Baseball is for ages 6-9.

Other Youth Sports Program offerings include sports clubs and Saturday Hoops nights, plus instruction in floor hockey and gymnastics.
