There were 49 road accidents on the eve of the fast day and on Yom Kippur itself, with 61 injured and one death. In Kiryat Shmona, an ambulance crashed into a large container placed in the middle of a road. A number of stones were thrown at cars in incidents around the country, including several Arab cars hit by Jewish youths on Hebron Road in Jerusalem.
