Jewish Life In first person… Grandparents overcome distance by sharing smiles via computer Facebook Twitter Email SMS WhatsApp Share By J. Correspondent | October 24, 1997 Amelia attends Wilshire Boulevard Temple's Infant-Parent program in Los Angeles with her mommy and daddy. However, Amelia's Bube, director of Peninsula Temple Sholom Preschool for the past 16 years, has now filled the void of not having her own grandchild participating in Sholom's programs. We just turn on our computer phone program to sing Amelia's favorite Hebrew songs and Bube plays her guitar just as though Amelia was in one of her classes in Burlingame. And even though we can't be together for every Jewish holiday, it was especially meaningful when we could all watch Amelia's precious face light up — as her daddy, uncle and grandfather softly blew their shofars via their computer and ours!
