`The Birth of Israel' will open in Palo Alto

The photo exhibit "The Birth of Israel" will open at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11 at Congregation Kol Emeth, 4175 Manuela Ave., Palo Alto.

The collection, shot by Marlin Levin who arrived in Jerusalem Aug. 31, 1947, documents the founding of Israel in 1948. Rabbi Jack Frankel, who lived and fought in Israel during its infancy, will speak at the opening reception.
