Jewish Life In first person: 3 generations relish Jewish tour of Big Apple Facebook Twitter Email SMS WhatsApp Share By J. Correspondent | January 16, 1998 My daughter and granddaughter were already at the hotel with open arms. We all embraced. The next day, May 26, 1997, our journey started at Ellis Island, our first stop. To watch my granddaughter's expression as she heard the story of Ellis Island was a beautiful sight. To look for my mom's name on a roster there was exciting. To have lunch at the famous Ratner's Dairy Restaurant on the famous Delancey Street was a treat. To behold Rebecca Jo relish every morsel! The next few days we took in all the sights I already mentioned plus the Yeshiva University, the Jewish Theological Seminary and Greenwich Village. Going to a Shabbat service at Congregation B'nai Jeshyryn and seeing so many young people joining the service was something that will stay with me as well as my granddaughter and daughter forever. Being together for these seven days with my granddaughter was a bonding that could never fade. Her caring to learn all about life beginnings where I spent a part of my life was very gratifying. Rebecca Jo was so impressed with me, her grandmother. What a joyous simcha this turned out to be, sharing time with my granddaughter who is from an intermarriage. J. Correspondent Also On J.
