Peace benefit will aid Israelis, Palestinians
Klezmer-punk/Balkan-funk band Charming Hostess, world music trio Davka and dance troupe Thais Mazers Dance Project will be featured at a music and dance benefit sponsored by Jewish Voice for Peace at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Berkeley Hillel Auditorium, 2736 Bancroft Way.
JVP is committed to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and strives to be an alternative voice for peace and justice in Israel. Saturday’s event, titled “Joined at the Hip,” is meant to rally the Jewish and Palestinian communities around the goal of peaceful co-existence.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Bat Shalom, an Israeli feminist peace organization; the Jerusalem Center for Women, a Palestinian women’s peace and democracy project; and the Atfaluna School for Deaf Children in Gaza. Tickets are $10 to $50 on a sliding scale.
