Silicon Valley will hold a Yom HaAtzmaut celebration

Other highlights include klezmer music, dancing by the Russian dance troupe of the Almaden Music School, art and crafts by Bay Area artisans, storytelling by Mara Beckerman and Erica Lann-Clark, movies about Israel, ethnic foods, a poster exhibit and children's games.

Costumed volunteers from Congregation Beth David in Saratoga, representing great 20th century Israeli leaders, will greet the crowd.

Mayors Judy Nadler of Santa Clara, Donald Wolf of Saratoga and Ralph Faravelli of Mountain View, plus Santa Clara County Supervisor Joseph Simitian and Mountain View Councilmember Joseph Kleitman will head a ceremony introduced by Jewish community leader Dr. Steve Green. Judy Levin, president of the Jewish Federation of Greater San Jose, also will speak.

Admission is free. Shuttle buses will ferry participants from parking locations to the JCC.
