Schultz Jewish Community Center plans a day trip to Half Moon Bay from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 12. The outing will include a docent tour of the James Johnston House and visits to the downtown area, Pillar Point Harbor at Princeton and the Village Green English Tea House in El Granada. Topics include loss, grieving, building support systems, parenting yourself and your children, dating and building self-esteem. The group is led by a clinical psychologist from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, starting (June 29). The fee is $25 per session for eight weeks. Registration is required for this nonsectarian group. Humanistic Jews elect Lafayette man as national president Bert Steinberg of Lafayette has been elected president of the Society for Humanistic Judaism, a national association of Humanistic Jewish communities and congregations. Steinberg has been active in the local chapter, the Northern California Society for Humanistic Judaism, for almost a decade, serving as its president from 1992 to 1994. He has been on the Society's national board of directors since 1991. Locally, he has served as vice president of the Contra Costa Jewish Community Center, is chair of the JCC's senior council and has been on its board of directors since 1991.
