But Joan Sinton did pursue her own charitable and humanitarian interests, and was involved in mental health projects, educational programs and issues affecting the elderly. She served as president of the Joan and Robert Sinton Supporting Foundation of the JCEF and was involved in granting academic and vocational scholarships to disadvantaged high school students in San Francisco.
“My mother was really for the little guy,” Wilson said. “She was really for the people who didn’t and couldn’t get all of the attention.”
In addition to daughter Barbara Sinton Wilson of San Francisco, Joan Sinton was the mother of Douglas Milton Sinton of Palo Alto and the late Michael Stanley Sinton; mother-in-law of Christopher Wilson and Wendy Chaikin Sinton; and grandmother of Faith Wilson Grove, Clare Madeleine Tirmbur, Seelig Michael Sinton, Andrew Robert Sinton, Jennifer Grace Wilson, Sonia Rebecca Sinton and Nathan Michael Wilson.
