*”Women in Jewish History: Rabbinic Discourse and Social Reality” taught by Howard Adelman, associate professor and director of Jewish studies programs at Smith College.

The course will explore women’s roles and the devices they created to overcome constraints placed upon them throughout Jewish history.

*”Finding Your Jewish Voice: A Creative Writing Workshop” taught by award-winning author Seymour Simckes.

It will focus on brief writing exercises and on integrating traditional Jewish sources, such as the Bible and talmudic stories.

In the spring the College will offer “Justice, Forgiveness and Reconciliation in Jewish and Christian Thought,” “Jews Among Christians and Muslims” and “Playwriting on Jewish Themes.”

Both fall courses will take place over 16 weeks, starting Sept. 15. They are open to college students, as well as to the general public. Each is worth three credits but also has a not-for-credit option.
