A graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School, Remcho was a partner in the Remcho, Johansen & Purcell law firm, with offices in San Leandro, San Francisco and Sacramento. He was named Trial Lawyer of the Year in 1988 by the California Trial Lawyers Association. He also served on the California Fair Political Practices Commission in the late 1970s.

In addition to Caplane, Remcho is survived by his daughter, Morgan, a student at Wellesley College, and his son, Sam, a student at the University of Colorado.

While Remcho was not Jewish, his family was deeply involved at Oakland’s Temple Sinai, where services were held. Burial was in Sinai’s section of Oakland’s Mountain View Cemetery.
