Correspondent | November 7, 2003 “The Red Tent” author Anita Diamant, whose has a new collection of essays, “Pitching My Tent,” is the next featured speaker at a San Francisco Jewish Book Month celebration co-sponsored by Congregation Sherith Israel and A Clean Well-Lighted Place for Books. Diamant will be speaking at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10 at Sherith Israel. The event kicked off with Israeli author Sami Michael and local storyteller Joel ben Izzy. After Diamant, “Tuesdays with Morrie” author Mitch Albom will be speaking about his first novel, “The Five People You Meet in Heaven,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12 at A Clean Well-Lighted Place for Books. Donna Rosenthal, local author of “The Israelis: Ordinary People in an Extraordinary Land,” will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18 at Sherith Israel. Local physician and storyteller Dr. Rachel Naomi Remen, author of “My Grandfather’s Blessings” and “Kitchen Table Wisdom,” will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 at Sherith Israel. Mark Oppenheimer, author of “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” and San Francisco Chronicle religion writer Don Lattin, who has written “Following Our Bliss,” will talk about how the 1960s influenced religion at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 at A Clean Well-Lighted Place for Books. Stella Suberman, author of “When it Was Our War,” and Jane Leavy, author of a new book about legendary Jewish baseball great Sandy Koufax, spoke this week.
