Jewish Life JNF trip for retirees scheduled for January Facebook Twitter Email SMS WhatsApp Share By J. Correspondent | November 14, 2003 Jewish National Fund is now recruiting for its 18th annual CAARI (Canadian American Active Retirees in Israel) mission to Israel, a four- or eight-week program in which retirees tour, volunteer and experience the spirit of the people of Israel. Each winter, a group of retired 50-plus-year-olds has traveled to Israel and participates in an interactive, educational program, which includes visits to archaeological sites, the experience of living for a few days on a kibbutz and meeting with pioneers in the Negev. The CAARI group meets Israelis of all ages, visits ancient and modern sites throughout Israel, volunteers several mornings a week in JNF forests, hospitals and day-care centera, and tutors children from disadvantaged neighborhoods. Highlights in the eight-week program include a month in Tel Aviv, 10 days in the Galilee, 10 days in Jerusalem, three days at the Dead Sea and an optional stay in Eilat, with day trips and visits to museums, historical and modern neighborhoods, as well as exciting lectures and meaningful community work throughout the program. Hotels, health insurance, tips, air and bus transportation are included in the price as well as most meals. The CAARI trip leaves Jan.14 and ends on Feb. 12 for the four-week trip and on March 11 for the eight-week version. Kosher meals, rooms with two double beds and bath, and gratuities are included. To register or for more information, call (877) 563-8687, e-mail [email protected], or go to www.jnf.org/CAARI. J. Correspondent Also On J. Religion Who is Elijah anyway?
