Budman, Edith In Concord, Dec. 11. Age 90. Wife of the late Herman Budman. Mother of Kenneth (and Sheila) Budman and Norman (and Jo) Budman. Grandmother of Scott Budman, Jenny Green, Matthew Budman, Cristina Beltran, Margo Budman and Alex Budman. Great-grandmother of Maria Chaya Budman. Born in Brooklyn. Worked in the family grocery store with her husband. Later moved to Palm Springs where she worked as a bank teller. Member of Contra Costa chapter of National Council of Jewish Women. Services and burial at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, Los Angeles. Donations to NCJW, Development Dept., 53 W. 23rd St., New York, NY 10010-4204.

Freudenthal, Walter J. In Oakland, Dec. 14. Age 98. Husband of the late Fannie Freudenthal. Received bachelor’s degree from U.C. Berkeley in 1927. Lifelong member of B’nai B’rith and Congregation Emanu-El. Services were held at Home of Eternity Cemetery, Oakland. Goldman, Phillip York In Los Altos, Dec. 26. Age 39. Husband of Susan Goldman. Father of Sydney Jane and Josephine Rose Goldman. Son of Melvin and Bonnie Goldman. Brother of Tyler Goldman, Colin (and Gillian) Goldman and the late Alexa Goldman. Grandson of the late Joseph (and Freida) Goldman and the late William Jr. (and Stella) Goldman. Son-in-law of Martin and the late Neva Rayl. Brother-in-law of Mimi Rayl. Honor graduate of Princeton University and chairman of the Computer Science Advisory Committee. Endowed a professorship at the Princeton School of Engineering. After serving as a software engineer at Apple Computer, he co-founded WebTV and became a vice president of Microsoft following its acquisition of WebTV. Recently, he founded and became CEO of Mailblocks Inc. Board member of the Brave Kids Charity. Services were held at Peninsula Temple Sholom, Burlingame, with entombment at Hills of Eternity Memorial Park, Colma. Kirshenbaum, Sandra Denola In San Francisco, Dec. 26. Age 65. Wife of Noel Kirshenbaum. Mother of Kent and Lisa Daniela Kirshenbaum. Grandmother of Ethan, Leo and Talia Kirshenbaum. Sister of Lydia, Emily and Albert Kirshenbaum. Born July 4, 1938, in Milan, Italy. Came to San Francisco in 1940. Awarded a Phi Beta Kappa from U.C. Berkeley, she then earned a master’s degree in library science from Carnegie Library School in 1960. After living on the East Coast and in Argentina for a few years, she returned to San Francisco with her family. Rare-book dealer before founding Fine Print in 1975, a journal devoted to the book arts. Founder of the Colophon Club of San Francisco. Lecturer. Earned many honors, including the American Printing History Association Award and the Oscar Lewis Award from the Book Club of California. Memorial services were held at Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco.

Langsam, Herbert David In San Francisco, Dec. 16. Husband of Roddy Langsam. Father of Robin (and Edward) Blum, Jon (and Georgia) Langsam, Heidi (and Richard) Gerber and Pamela (and Fred) Ferroggiaro. Grandfather of David and Benny Blum, Stephen Langsam, Grant Gerber and Alexandra and Samantha Ferroggiaro. Brother of the late Dr. Sanford Langsam. Funeral services were held at Sinai Memorial Chapel, 1501 Divisadero St. at Geary Boulevard with interment following at Eternal Home Cemetery, Colma.
