Cynthia Joy Landau Michael of San Diego, daughter of Harriett and Dr. John Michael of San Rafael, and Gregory Scott Pascal of Long Beach, son of Beth and Dr. Charles Pascal of Hillsborough, have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be received a bachelor’s degree in Jewish studies from the University of Judaism and an MBA with an emphasis in finance from San Diego State University. She is a real estate agent with Century 21. She is the sister of Daniel John Michael of the Bronx, N.Y., and Lisa Landau Michael of San Francisco. Grandparents are Goldie Cutler Michael of San Francisco, the late Dorothy and Dr. Daniel Landau and the late Eleanor and Joseph Michael.

Her fiancé received a bachelor of science degree in emergency medical care from Loma Linda University. He is the brother of Lawrence Douglas Pascal of Burlingame and Allison Lauren Pascal of Davis. Grandparents are Sybna and Albert Schlesinger of Hillsborough, Victoria Pascal of Woodland Hills and the late Aaron Pascal.

The couple met through BBYO when Gregory invited her to a four chapters event. They remained friends, but their romantic interest in each other didn’t begin until Labor Day weekend of last year.

They kept their relationship secret from their parents for several months. In December, they finally revealed that they were dating to both sets of parents, who exclaimed, “What took you so long?”

Gregory proposed to Cynthia on Jan. 24 over dessert before heading off to the opening night of the San Diego Opera. The waiter said he had never seen anyone happier about dessert.

Their wedding is scheduled for October.
