The National Jewish Theatre Festival’s Summer Youth Theatre Conservatory, best knowm for the popular “MeshugaNutcracker,” isn’t waiting for summer to put on its next show.
The conservatory, in collaboration with Congregation Beth Am’s B.A. Jewish Star visual and performing arts program, will present “Golden Dreams!,” a new musical celebrating 500 years of the Jewish experience in America.
“Golden Dreams!” features songs by America’s greatest Jewish composers and lyricists, and selected material based on the comedy of Stan Freberg. Scott, Shannon and Stephen Guggenheim serve, respectively, as director, choreographer, and musical director.
The show stars a group of 46 Beth Am kids and teens, all members of B.A. Jewish Star, a program developed to give young performers professional instruction in the arts and Jewish history, culminating in a live theatrical production.
“Golden Dreams!” performs 7 p.m. Saturday, March 13 and 20; and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14 and 21, at Congregation Beth Am, 26790 Arastradero Road, Los Altos Hills. Tickets are $10. Information: (650) 493-4661.
