Wedding

Rabbi Debra Orenstein and Craig Weisz were married March 28 at the Yitzhak Rabin Center for Jewish Life on the UCLA campus. Rabbi Jehiel Orenstein, father of the bride and spiritual leader of Congregation Beth El in South Orange, N.J., and Rabbi Jane Litman, friend of the couple and spiritual leader of Congregation Beth El in Berkeley, officiated.

The bride, a seventh-generation rabbi, is the daughter of Sylvia and Jehiel Orenstein of South Orange, N.J. She graduated from Princeton University, was ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary and serves as spiritual leader of Makom Ohr Shalom synagogue in addition to working as an actress. She has published several scholarly books.

The groom is the son of Karen Sortino of Menlo Park and the late Alfred Weisz and the stepson of Frank Sortino. A producer and production manager, he received a bachelor’s degree from UCLA and a master’s of fine arts from the University of Southern California School of Cinema-Television.

The couple was introduced by Aviva Orenstein, sister of the bride. The newlyweds live in Los Angeles.
