Brandstatter, Julius In Mountain View, May 11. Age 84. Husband of Miriam Brandstatter for 56 years. Father of Andrew Spira, Carol Myers and Nancy Eiger. Grandfather of six. Born in New York. Raised in Los Angeles. Graduated from UCLA with a master’s degree in physics and a doctorate in mathematics. Instructor at Tel Aviv University, San Francisco State University and Golden Gate University. Services were held at Congregation Beth Am, Los Altos Hills. Epstein, Miriam Mimi Ruth In Alamo, May 20, of cancer. Former wife of Marvin A. Epstein. Mother of Judith (and Todd) Endelman and William (and Susan) Epstein. Grandmother of Michael (and Nina) Endelman, Flora Endelman and Joshua, David and Daniel Epstein. Daughter of the late Flora Berman Raben and Harry Raben. Born April 7, 1922, in Port Chester, N.Y. Graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 1943. After college, moved to Oyster Bay, Long Island, to participate in night-vision experiments funded by the Office of Scientific Research and Development, connected to the American war effort. Moved to Walnut Creek in 1951 and Alamo in 1956. A founder of the Contra Costa Jewish Community Center, now Temple Isaiah. President of Temple Isaiah from 1982 to 1984 and was a board member at the time of her death. Chaired Temple Isaiah Endowment Fund and served on the board of directors for the Jewish Community Foundation. Directed the Speakers Bureau of the American Jewish Committee, Bay Area chapter, from 1976 to 1983. Donations to Temple Isaiah, 3800 Mt. Goldschmid, Margaret “Mala” In Redwood City, May 18. Age 76. Wife of Joseph Goldschmid for 56 years. Mother of Dr. David (and Joyce) Goldschmid, Drs. Steve (and Merilyn) Goldschmid and Robert (and Ann) Goldschmid. Grandmother of Renee, Michelle, Josh, Rachel, Max, Gavriella and Abigail Goldschmid. Sister of Carmella (and Aaron) Friedman, Yardena (and Zoli) Kohen and Yitzhak Leibovitz. Sister-in-law of Yehoshua Langbort. Born in Sevlus, Czechoslovakia. Holocaust survivor. Incarcerated at Auschwitz concentration camp. Went to Israel in 1946 and later moved to Southfield, Mich., to raise her family. Former resident of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Sunrise, Fla. Green, Mildred W. In Alameda, May 11, of natural causes in her sleep. Age 90. Wife of the late William “Bill” Green for 45 years. Mother of Rich (and Ellen) Green, Bob (and Susan) Green. Grandmother of Erin and Andrew Green. Sister of Harold and Alvin Weiss and the late Sam Weiss, Jeanette Lavis, Blanche Breeman, Adele Blaugrund and Bernice Bibo. Daughter of the late Rosie and Morris Weiss. Born May 23, 1914 in East St. Louis. Alameda resident for nearly 58 years. Active in Parent Teachers Association. Volunteer for American Red Cross. Member of Alameda Women’s Golf Club. Member of Temple Israel since 1946. Attended Texas Western University. Studied nursing at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, where she received her registered nurse certificate. Worked as a public health nurse until meeting her husband in 1940. San Diego resident from 1941 to 1945.
