Correspondent | September 17, 2004 PJCC celebrates grand opening Though it officially opened in May, the Peninsula Jewish Community Center will be having a grand opening celebration from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at 800 Foster City Blvd., Foster City. Activities will include dance, gymnastics, chair massages, fitness demonstrations, sports and games. There will also be entertainment such as Yiddish folk songs, magic, comedy, and performances by singer-songwriter Judith-Kate Friedman and California Klezmer. Workshops teach baby rituals In “Baby is a Blessing,” a three-session workshop of the Jewish rituals and traditions welcoming a new child, participants create a customized baby blessing, learn about birth ceremonies for boys and girls, and explore Jewish naming traditions. Jewish and interfaith couples, and single, gay, intercultural and interracial parents are welcome. There is a $20 material fee. This workshop is sponsored by Project Welcome of the Union for Reform Judaism, the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund and the Walter and Elise Haas Fund. Workshops will be held from Oct. 3 through Jan. 1 at locations in San Francisco, Tiburon, Walnut Creek, Berkeley and San Mateo.
