Grandfather to Mark (and Bob Hill), Michael (and Susan) Battat and Suzanne (and Frank) Dowling. Great-grandfather of Hannah Battat and Aidan Dowling. Born in Naumburg, Germany (near Kassel). One of eight children of the late Isaac and Frieda Wertheim. To escape the Holocaust, immigrated with his wife and 6-month-old baby to San Francisco in May 1936. Longtime real estate broker. Member of Congregation Emanu-El for over 50 years. Services were held at the chapel of Home of Peace Cemetery in Colma.
