Weddings

Karen Berk and Joshua Marcus were married Jan. 16 at the Lake Merritt Hotel in Oakland. Rabbi Steven Chester of Temple Sinai in Oakland officiated.

The bride graduated from U.C. Berkeley. She is the assistant director of international relations at U.C. Berkeley. She is the daughter of Barbara and Neil Berk of Phoenix, Ariz., and the sister of Michael (and Lisa) Berk of Phoenix. She is the aunt of Avery Berk. Grandparents are the late Helen and Norman Berson and Pauline and Herman Berk.

The groom graduated from U.C. Berkeley. He is a database and Web application developer. He is the son of Susan Marcus of Washington, D.C., and Aaron Marcus (and Leslie Becker) of Berkeley. He is the brother of Elisheva Marcus of Toronto. Grandparents are Julie and Paul Douglas of Philadelphia and the late Libbie Burstein and Nathan Marcus.

Maid of honor was Stefanie Berk. Best woman was Elisheva Marcus.

After a honeymoon in Lake Tahoe and Venice, Italy, the couple is residing in Oakland.

Leah Suzanne Ross and Adam Kenneth Felson were married July 24, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in San Francisco.

The bride is a special-education elementary school teacher. She is the daughter of Harvey and Sherry Rowen. Grandparents are Augusta Ross and Sid Jaffe.

The groom is a construction manager for a real estate investment company. He is the son of Rick and Claudia Felson. Grandparents are Janet and Murray Gordon. Great-grandmother is Rachel Gordon.

Marissa Bauman was the maid-of-honor. Blake Felson was the best man. Harris and Carrie Ross, Grant Ross and Sara Rothstein and several cousins and friends were in the bridal party.

The couple both participated in the 1996 East Bay Jewish Federation trip to Israel, but they didn’t get acquainted until they were both attending the University of Arizona. After a honeymoon in France, the couple is residing in their new home in San Francisco.
