Father of Anthony (and Bridget) Barron, Suzanne Barron, Paul (and Angie) Barron, Richard (and Rita) Barron, Bruce (and Beverly) Feder and Carolyn (and Ourry) Schwartzbord. Grandfather of Tessa and Kerissa Barron; Ben, Jason and Elana Feder; Laura Ruchinskas; and Jeremy and Aaron Schwartzbord. Brother to Evelyn (and Harry) Schein. Attended school in Los Angeles and Fresno before attending U.C. Berkeley from 1941-1943. Member of the varsity debate squad, Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Lambda Phi. Entered U.S. Army in 1943. Military intelligence officer until 1947, serving in the United States, Philippines and Korea. Served in the U.S. government in Washington, D.C., during the Korean War. President and founder of Rex Sales Inc., an importer and distributor of ethnic foods in Northern California. Retired in 1985. Services were held at Sinai Memorial Chapel in San Francisco, with interment at Home of Peace Cemetery in Colma. Donations to Institute on Aging, 3330 Geary Blvd., S.F. 94118.

Sister to Salome Noun, Betty Roth and Charlotte Holstein. Grandmother to Ethan Allison, Annika Allison, Michael Martinez and Michele Martinez. Born Aug. 26, 1917 in Rochester, N.Y., to Morris and Esther Garelick. Attended Monroe High School in Rochester, and Brockport State College. Graduated summa cum laude in 1958. Teacher, community leader and social change activist. Member of N.Y. State Congress of the PTA. Vice president of the Rochester Women’s Human Relations Council. Chairman of the Rochester/Monroe County Youth Board. Founder and chair of the Brighton Youth Agency. President of the Rossmoor Scholarship Foundation. Actress in community plays. Received many awards including Brighton Rotary Club’s Woman of the Year award (1969), Rochester Chamber of Commerce’s Outstanding Contributor award in the field of social services (1977), and National Voluntary Activist award (1979). Memorial service was held Feb. 9 at home of Eternity Chapel in Mountain View Cemetery, Oakland. Grandfather of Kanoa (and Tim) Beatty, Dove Ilnicki, and Jeremy and Jordan Waxman. Great-grandfather of Kaitlin Beatty. Brother of the late Philip Waxman. Uncle and cousin. Served in the U.S. Navy Reserve in WWII. Retired real estate broker. A past Master of Lebanon-Pacific #136 F&AM and a member of the Scottish Rite. Former board member of Sinai Memorial Chapel and the Hebrew Free Loan. Services were private.
