Grandfather of Janet and Michael Zimmerman, Barrie (and Robert) Scheid and Deme (and Jeff) Paull, and Joe and Dan Barkoff. Great-grandfather of Blake Marchant and Jameson Paull. Best friend of Janet Kaplan. Brother of Warren Bauer and the late Ernestine Pearlman. Brother-in-law of Beryl May. Born and raised in San Francisco. Graduated from Lowell High School and Hastings College of Law. Became a member of the California State Bar in 1934. Member of the American Bar Association, the San Francisco Lawyers Club, B’nai B’rith, Masonic Fidelity Lodge 120 F&AM, the Hebrew Free Loan Association, Chautauqua Society and the alumni associations of U.C. Berkeley and Hastings College of Law. Life member of Sinai Memorial Chapel, past president of Congregation Sherith Israel and the Sherith Israel Brotherhood, a board member of the American Jewish Congress and member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Home.
