Ashley Elyse Brochstein and Neal Stephen Block have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Susan and Stephen Brochstein of Houston and the granddaughter of Bernice Friedlander and the late Silas Friedlander Jr. and Ellen and the late Harry Brochstein of Houston.

She is the corporate sales manager at Embarcadero Technologies in San Francisco and is a recent qualifier for the Boston marathon. She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration with honors from University of Texas.

Her fiance is the son of Marge and Jerry Block, the grandson of Rheta Kurant and the late Harry Kurant of San Francisco.

He is a recreational manager with the City of Brisbane. He received his bachelor’s degree at San Diego State University and his master’s degree at San Jose State University. He was a collegiate swimmer and water polo player.

A fall wedding in Sonoma is planned.
