Rabbi James Brandt officiated. The bride is the executive director of the Mental Health Association of San Francisco. The groom is president of Say I Can Speech Recognition and executive director of TakeBackCA.org, a nonprofit dedicated to election reform. The couple met in 2002 as participants in the New Leaders Project of the Jewish Community Relations Council. Parents are Sandra and David Lyons of Montreal, Canada, and Rochelle and Dr. Michael Newman of Yardley, Pennsylvania. Also participating in the wedding were maids of honor Julia Scott, Catherine Beckett and Sonya Michlin, best man Seth Newman, groomsmen Karl Arruda, Lee Notowich, and Jeremy Ehrlich, and chuppah-holders Michael and Laura Scott, Wendi Robbins and Daphne Anshel.
