Go-go dancers added to the mix at Latke Ball

Tickets are now on sale for the Latke Ball, the largest Jewish singles event of the year.

Now in its ninth year, the party, which is sponsored by the S.F-based Jewish Community Federation, draws around 1,000 Jewish singles from throughout the Bay Area.

This year’s party takes place starting 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, at Ruby Skye, a multi-level downtown nightclub at 420 Mason St., San Francisco. The venue has several rooms and “is really an elegant space,” said Sprinza Katz, the JCF’s Young Leadership Coordinator.

DJs include Bay Area native DJ Solomon, aka Solomon Katz, and Deevice, who will spin soul, house, ’80s, R&B, funk and hip-hop.

Contributing to the festive atmosphere will be dancers from Go Go Pro, who dress up in a variety of costumes to perform.

“We wanted to liven it up a little, and it’s always good to have something live on stage for people,” said Katz. “This year we thought it would be fun to have something visual.”

A silent auction will offer items like a piece of jewelry from Liza Sonia, a home color-consultation by an interior designer, an acupressure session, San Francisco symphony tickets, Jdate memberships and gift certificates to San Francisco restaurants such as Incanto, Hamano Sushi, Le Colonial and The Blue Plate.

Attendees will also be able to help the Compass Family Center, by bringing unused hygiene or beauty supplies or school supplies. The Compass Family Center assists families in crisis in San Francisco.

Tickets are $24 in advance and $30 at the door. They can be bought online at www.latkeball.org.
