Deaths

Hannah Engle, daughter of Enid Pollack, was killed by a driver in New York on Jan. 21. She was 25 years old. We will have a memorial service for Hannah Engle on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. in our Sanctuary. Congregation Rodef Sholom, 170 N. San Pedro Road, San Rafael, CA 94903. (415) 479-3441.

Jacqueline (Jackie) Joy Boyd — age 74, passed away with dignity and grace surrounded by her loving family early Sunday morning, Jan. 15, 2006, from Alzheimer’s disease in Sacramento, Calif. Jackie (The Queen of our family) is survived by her husband of 47 years, Marvin Boyd, and their daughters Leslie Gardner, twins Susy and Vicky Boyd, grandchildren Jeff Kapkin and Gena Gardner, younger brother Ron Brown (sister-in-law Sharon) plus loving nieces, cousins, family and friends. Jackie was the beloved daughter of the late Sarah and Ben Brown and wife of predeceased husband Earl Sultan. Born Aug. 3, 1931 in San Francisco, raised in Chicago, Ill., returned to the San Francisco Bay Area, eventually retiring to Sacramento, Calif. She started her career as a Teacher’s Aide for Westborough Junior High, re-entered college later in life receiving a degree in Computer Science, transitioned her career to Supervisory position in Computer Programming for the San Mateo County Community College District before retiring and moving with her husband to Sacramento, Calif. Active member of her synagogue (Peninsula Temple Sholom in Burlingame), Regional President for Women’s American ORT for many years, loyal and enthusiastic Chicago Cubs fan (GO CUBS!!). We remember always those piercing blue eyes that illuminated her generous spirit, kindness, goodness, love of life. While she was here she taught us not with words but with actions all that really matters in life… to love and be loved. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 18 at Sunset Lawn, Chapel of the Chimes in Sacramento, Calif. Erwin Levy, 84, of Palm Desert died Jan. 25, 2006 in Rancho Mirage from complications of open heart surgery. He was born Oct. 1, 1921 to Max and Johanna Levy in Waldbreitbach, Germany. He married Inna Feygin on Oct. 22, 2000 in San Francisco. Erwin was a plumbing contractor in San Francisco for 38 years. He is survived by his wife, Inna Levy of Palm Desert and his brother, Ernie Levy. Services were held at Ramon Chapel, Forest Lawn in Cathedral City. The family suggests donations be made to a favorite charity.
