April marked the one-year anniversary of James’ death, and this April 14 would have been his 89th birthday. He passed away last year in Sagle, Idaho due to complications from a stroke, with his wife of 59 years, Pamela, and his daughter, Kristine, at his side. He was a lifelong resident of San Francisco, and was best known for his 50+ years heading his own “Jimmy Blass Orchestra” throughout the Bay Area. In addition, he was a much-loved elementary instrumental music teacher in the Oakland School District for 47 years. Jimmy is and will forever be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a rare, wonderful and precious man. Submitted in loving memory by his wife and family. Ruby Mohr Werdesheim passed away in Walnut Creek on March 14, 2006, at the age of 91; beloved mother of Randy Sue Pollock and Rusty Pollock; devoted grandmother to Sarah Kornetsky, Leslie Klonoff, and Megan Pollock; great-grandmother of Joel and Jenny Klonoff. Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, and raised in Los Angeles. She moved to Rossmoor twelve years ago to be near her children.
