Martin M. Foster in Oakland, on April 19, 2006 at the age of 84, and after a long illness with Alzheimer’s disease at his home in Montclair. Born in the Bronx, N.Y. in 1922. Beloved and devoted husband of Helena R. Foster for 41 years. Loving brother of Arnold Foster of San Rafael and Ed Fessler of Phoenix, Arizona. Uncle of Bonnie Radest and Norman, Lindsay and Joanne Fessler. Great uncle of Mark and Joey Radest, and cousin of Paul Taussig. Martin was the owner of Martin Foster Enterprises theatre chain in the East Bay for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1988. His sense of showmanship and love for foreign films expanded the audiences for specialized cinema in the East Bay. His passion was the movie business, the theatre, symphony and opera. Gravesite funeral services were be held at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael. Any contributions in Marty’s memory may be sent to the charity of your choice. Clarice Miller passed away on April 15, 2006. She led a full and healthy life for 93 years. She is the beloved mother of Sereen Barasch and husband Herbert Barasch of Atherton, Norman Ball and wife Barbara of Pacifica, and David Ball and his wife, Louella, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has seven grandchildren and was blessed with six great-grandchildren. She was an active participant at Rosener House, a state-of-the-art adult day center. Beloved husband of Helga; loving father of Susi (Raul) Soria and Johnny (Monica) Silberberg; devoted grandfather of Sidney (Natalie) Soria, Danny (Shira) Soria, Steve and Kenny Silberberg. Past volunteer with the chevra kaddisha in La Paz, Bolivia. Funeral services were held under the direction of Sinai Memorial Chapel at Salem Memorial Park, Colma.
