Amos H. Lieberman, MD in San Francisco on June 13, 2006 at age 80. Beloved husband of the late Elaine Lieberman; loving father of Jonathan (fiancée Jane Goldman) and Jeremy (Adriane Concus) Lieberman; adored “Papoo” of Jesse and Samson. Born in NY, NY; decorated WWII U.S. Army Vet., attended Columbia University and received his MD from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Had a long and fulfilling career at Kaiser Permanente, SF. Longtime member of Cong. Beth Sholom. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 16th at 10:30 a.m. at the Home of Peace Cemetery Chapel, Colma, CA. In lieu of flowers contributions to the charity of your choice preferred.

Thelma M. Kaufman passed away peacefully at the Belmont Convalescent Hospital on June 10, 2006. She is survived by her beloved husband Frank, loving nephew Richard Firestone, his wife Vicki and their sons Daryl and Marc. Thelma was born in Pennsylvania where two nieces, Sara and Sheila reside. Active for many years in Temple Emanu-El and Hadassah, for the past 25 years Thelma graciously worked at her husband’s side when the well-known Pagoda Shop was an exhibitor at local Antique Shows. Funeral Services were held Thursday, June 15 at Home of Peace Cemetery, Colma. Contributions may be made in her memory to Hadassah or to your local Jewish Federation.

Rose Morris passed away on June 15, 2006 at the age of 87 at Mills Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, CA. Loving and devoted wife and soul mate for 60 years of the late Alfred Morris who passed away in 2001; devoted mother of Lawrence (wife Carol) Morris, Gary (late wife Claudine) Morris, Elizabeth (husband Ronald) Groden, William Morris (Arlene Gaspar); adoring grandmother of Jesse and Amy Morris, Michael (wife Trang Morris), Samantha, Darcey and Courtney Groden. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, but a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area since childhood, Rose was the sixth child of William and Ann Rubinchik and is survived by her youngest brother Maxwell (wife Lorna) Rubinchik. Rose was co-owner of the Alfred B. Morris Glass Company in San Francisco from 1947 through 1987. Rose was an active member of B’nai Brith, and she enjoyed assisting her husband Al whenever and however possible in his volunteer activities. Alfred was a member of Starr King Lodge #344 F. & A. M. Rose enjoyed baking and entertaining. She was an avid reader and loved games, particularly Pan and Mahjong. She enjoyed Big Band music and never missed the opportunity to go ballroom/swing dancing with Alfred. She and Alfred enjoyed many a dance under the stars at the Pine Bowl of Hobergs Resort in Lake County. Loved greatly by all her children, Rose will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held at Home Of Peace Cemetery Chapel, 1299 El Camino Real, Colma with interment to follow. Contributions to your favorite charity preferred.

Harry M. Newman in Mountain View, CA May 28, 2006. Beloved husband of the late Belle Newman. Loving father of Mark Newman. Devoted brother of Razel Garfinkel (Matthew), Sarah Peters (Jerome), Jeanette (Johnny) Wartel (Reuben) and the late William Newman. A founding member of Congregation Kol Emeth of Palo Alto and the architect who designed the synagogue. A founding member of Congregation Beth Am, now located in Los Altos Hills. Born in New York in 1912, raised in Detroit and moved to California in 1949, he was a resident of Palo Alto for 55 years and a licensed architect in the state of California for 57 years. He was associated with several major architectural firms in San Francisco for decades until he went into private practice. Funeral services and interment have been held.

Gary Rechnitz. Gary passed away peacefully on June 18, 2006 after a five year extension of life through dialysis. He was born Sept. 27, 1928 in Ratibor, Germany; leaving Germany in 1939 with his family for an “adventure” in Shanghai, China. He came to California in 1947 and married Beatrice Langsam in 1951. He is survived by his loving wife; children Jan (Bruce) Lewis and Wayne (Debby) Rechnitz; grandchildren Alex, Elyse, Jared, Trevor and Kyle. We celebrate his life as he would have wanted us to do. Funeral services were held at Skylawn Memorial Park, Hwy. 92 at Skyline Blvd., San Mateo.
