Joseph Dienstag On August 27th 2006 at the age of 94. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Elizabeth “Bess” Dienstag; loving and devoted father of Susan Dienstag Gildea and her husband Dennis Gildea; adoring grandfather of Adam and Matthew Gildea; also survived by his sister Bertha Goldberg and family, and his brother Leon Kraus and family. Also survived by his many cousins. Devoted and loyal friend of Barry Lum and special remembrances of his companion the late Sarah Schrieber. Joe was born in Mielec, Poland in 1911, and he arrived in the United States in 1929.  Joe and Bess were founding members of Congregation Rodef Sholom in San Rafael. Services were held at Congregation Rodef Sholom in San Rafael with interment following at Salem Memorial Park in Colma. Contributions in his name may be sent to Congregation Rodef Sholom in San Rafael, Temple Beth Abraham in Oakland or to the Jewish charity of your choice 

Esther Shub Pava, 85 years of age. A native of Hartford, CT. An artist and educator. Resided in the Bay Area for over 60 years. Wife of Jacob Pava 60 years; mother of David (Patricia), Jonathan (Janice), Daniel (Carol), and Alex Pava; grandmother of 8; sister of Sarah Hoff. Services were held August 29, 2006 in Colma.

Rose Slater in Santa Rosa on August 22, 2006 at age 96. Wife of the late Leo Slater; mother of Marilyn Shulman (Alan Trood) and Carol Fisher (Richard); grandmother of Lisa Shulman (Paul Archibald), Corinne Shulman (Tom Peter), and Adrienne Shulman (Chris Waddington), Leah Christensen (Jens Jacob), and Jake Fisher (Min); great-grandmother of Evvy Rose and Mariah Ruth Archibald Shulman, Gunna and Sven Christensen, and Maxwell Shulman Peter. Rose was the past president of B’nai B’rith Women and a volunteer at Kaiser Hospital and the Ulloa School helping children read. She was a loving and caring person who had a very full and happy life. Private family services will be held at Eternal Home Cemetery in Colma. Contributions in her memory may be sent to hospice or charity of your choice.
