Correspondent | October 27, 2006 Roger Dorfman, age 57, fifth generation San Franciscan, passed away October 17 after many years of ill health. Son of Benjamin and Edith Dorfman; brother of Richard Dorfman and his wife Sylvia; loving father of Jeremy, Bernard, Marleigh and Rose. Life long member of Congregation Emanu-El. Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 17 which met at Emanu-El at the time. Former producer of the John Rothmann talk show at KGO News Talk 810 AM and continued to supply material for the show for many years. As a sound archivist and historian, Roger created the American Archives Radio Library, created radio projects such as “Dr. Road Rage” and worked with the 1906 Earthquake Centennial Alliance, producing the program, “At the Turn of the Century.” Roger was vice president of the Student Body at George Washington High School in Fall 1966 and began sports announcing at that time. Roger graduated from University of the Pacific in 1971 and furthered his interest and participation in radio in his college years. Family and friends were invited to his Memorial Service which was held Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at 10:00 AM, at Congregation Emanu-El, 2 Lake Street, San Francisco. A reception followed Services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boy Scouts of America, American Diabetes Association, the Rabbi’s Fund at Congregation Emanu-El or other charity of one’s choosing. Lester D. Goldschmidt died Oct. 16, 2006, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Age 94 years. Beloved husband of Margo Goldschmidt (nee Bachenheimer). Father of Ronald (Cathy) of San Mateo, CA, and Linda (Sandy) Ehrenreich of Pittsburgh, PA. Loving grandfather of Daniel Goldschmidt, Joel Goldschmidt, Marc Ehrenreich and Andrea Ehrenreich. Brother of Fillmore Goldschmidt. Fondly remembered for his love of family, friends and colleagues, his great integrity and honesty, and his wonderful sense of humor. Mae Herman, formerly of Millbrae, passed away Oct. 21, 2006. She was predeceased by her husband, Sam Herman. She leaves her daughter, Judy Nelson (Joel); son, Jess Herman; grandchildren: Yoni Wunderman, Dylan Nelson, Katie and Josh Morse; sister, Ruby Elbogen, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mae was a generous, strong and loving woman who touched the lives of all she met. She will be missed.
